The thermal fuse is a critical safety device designed to protect your dryer from overheating. Over time, restricted airflow caused by lint buildup in the exhaust vent hose or house ductwork can cause internal temperatures to spike, triggering the thermal fuse to blow. When this component fails on a Samsung 7.4-cu Ft Vented Electric Dryer, the machine will typically turn on and the drum will spin, but the heating element will fail to ignite, leaving you with wet clothes. Replacing a blown thermal fuse is a straightforward troubleshooting repair that restores heat functionality.
WARNING: Before beginning this repair, completely unplug the dryer from its 240V wall outlet to prevent lethal electrical shock. Additionally, turn off the residential breaker dedicated to the appliance and disconnect the flexible exhaust vent hose from the rear of the chassis to allow safe movement of the unit. Watch out for sharp sheet metal edges inside the cabinet; protective mechanics gloves are highly recommended.

ШагиSteps
1
Step 1
- Open the front dryer door completely by pulling firmly on the recessed handle integrated into the side of the door assembly until the internal latch releases.
2
Step 2
- Grip the center top lip of the plastic lint trap filter assembly firmly and pull it straight upward to remove it from its housing cavity located inside the lower door frame.
- Locate the 2 12.7 mm Phillips #2 screws visible on the right side of the inner door panel housing just above the warning label and unscrew them.
3
Step 3
- Insert a flathead screwdriver or a rigid plastic opening tool directly into the seam between the top lid and the main front panel assembly to engage the internal spring clips.
- Pry upward gently on the tool to release the locking clips on both the left and right sides of the upper chassis interface.
- Hinge the top lid assembly upward and backward away from the front panel to expose the internal wiring harness and bulkhead components.
4
Step 4
- Locate the two multi-wire electrical harnesses connected to the terminal ports on the upper component bracket.
- Squeeze the plastic locking tab on the white wire harness connector firmly and pull it straight out of its socket to disconnect the wiring circuit.
- Depress the release clip on the adjacent yellow wiring connector and separate it from the terminal housing to clear the second electrical connection safely.
5
Step 5
- Remove the three red 12.7 mm Phillips #2 silver sheet metal screws securing the front panel assembly to the structural frame of the dryer chassis.
- Lift the front panel vertically off its lower mounting hooks and pull it away from the unit to expose the drum and the heating element assembly.
6
Step 6
- Remove the three 9.5 mm Phillips #2 sheet metal screws securing the protective access cover to the lower chassis frame.
- Pull the metal cover straight outward away from the dryer body to disengage its tabs and expose the internal heating components.
7
Step 7
- Pull the two female spade wire terminals straight off the metal contact tabs of the thermal fuse by gripping the insulated plastic sleeves firmly with your fingers to disconnect the electrical loop.
- Remove the 2 blue 7.9 mm Phillips #2 screws securing the integrated metal thermal fuse mounting bracket to the side of the heater housing assembly. Lift the old, failed thermal fuse out of its recessed slot on the casing and remove it from the workspace.
- Position the new replacement thermal fuse flat against the mounting slot on the side of the metal heater housing assembly and tighten the two screws to secure it in place.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
