The detergent dispenser drawer, also called the dispenser drawer or detergent drawer, sends detergent and fabric conditioner into the wash. Over time, residue, powder residue, conditioner residue, and mold can build up and wash onto clothes. Use this guide to remove the drawer, clean the drawer and its cavity, check the door seal, refit the drawer, and run a hot maintenance wash. This guide applies to a Haier washing machine with the dispenser drawer in the top-left corner; other models may differ slightly.

Prepare the washing machine

Turn off the washing machine and unplug it from the wall before cleaning.
Let the washer cool if it recently ran a hot wash.
Wear dishwashing gloves if soap residue, mold, or cleaning products irritate your skin.
Don't use sharp metal tools or force plastic parts, as the drawer and blue release button can break.

Remove the dispenser drawer

Find the dispenser drawer in the top-left corner of the washing machine.
Put a hand underneath the front of the drawer and gently pull it outward until it stops.
Press down the blue button in the middle of the drawer.
Keep the blue button pressed and slowly pull the drawer straight out of the washer.
If the drawer doesn't release, press the blue button again and avoid forcing it.

Clean the dispenser drawer cavity

Use a damp, soapy cloth to wipe inside the dispenser drawer cavity.
Clean the ceiling, sides, and back of the cavity as far as the cloth can reach safely.
Remove any residue, washing powder residue, conditioner residue, and mold you can reach.
Keep excess water away from the control panel and don't spray water into the cavity.

Clean the drum rubber

Open the washer door and pull back the folds of the door seal.
Check the rubber for debris, dirt, and blockages.
Use a damp, soapy cloth to scrub the rubber thoroughly.
Use a soft brush to clean stubborn grime and dirt from the folds.
Use a dedicated brush that won't be used for teeth.
Don't poke the rubber with sharp tools, as punctures can cause leaks.

Clean the dispenser drawer

Use a damp, soapy cloth to clean the dispenser drawer and remove residue, residue, and mold.
Remove the blue button and the conditioner level indicator to improve access for cleaning.
Clean under and around the removed pieces with the cloth.
Use a soft brush to scrub corners, channels, and any stubborn dirt.
Keep the removable pieces together so they can be refitted before the drawer goes back in.

Refit the dispenser drawer

Reinstall the blue button and the conditioner level indicator if you removed them.
Align the dispenser drawer with the opening in the washing machine.
Slide the drawer straight back in until it sits flush with the front panel.
Pull the drawer gently to confirm it is held securely.
If the drawer sticks, remove it, realign it, and slide it in again without forcing it.

Run a maintenance wash

Close the dispenser drawer and the washer door.
Select the hottest wash available with no clothes in the drum.
Use a 90 °C program or the Drum Clean option if the washer has one.
Run the empty cycle to flush the dispenser area and the rest of the washing machine.
