Use this guide to safely remove and clean the pump filter on a Hisense washing machine. The pump filter, also called the coin catcher, catches debris before it reaches the drain pump. A blocked filter can cause poor draining, bad smells, strange pump noises, or the Hisense F03 error code.
This guide is written for a Hisense washing machine with the pump filter behind the bottom-right front cover and no separate drain hose. Other Hisense models may have minor differences, including a small drain hose behind the same cover.
🧰 Tools
- Blunt Tool
- Shop Towels or Rags

ШагиSteps
1
Make the washer safe
2
Gather draining supplies
- Place lots of old towels around the bottom-right front corner of the washing machine.
- Keep a sponge nearby to soak up water as it drains from the filter.
- Have a sink, bucket, or bowl available so you can squeeze out the sponge as needed.
3
Open the filter cover
- Find the filter cover in the bottom-right corner of the front panel.
- Use a blunt instrument to gently pull the cover open.
4
Check for a drain hose
- Look inside the filter compartment for a small drain hose.
- If a drain hose is present, pull it out and drain it into a small bucket before removing the filter.
5
Loosen the filter slowly
- Turn the filter counterclockwise by hand to loosen it.
- Open the filter only a little at first so water drains slowly into the towels and sponge.
- Soak up the draining water with the sponge and towels.
6
Drain the leftover water
- Let a small amount of water drain from the loosened filter.
- Squeeze the sponge out in the sink, bucket, or bowl when it becomes full.
- Repeat this draining and soaking process until hardly any water comes out.
7
Free a stuck filter
- If the filter only turns a little and gets stuck, tighten it back up by hand.
- Loosen and tighten the filter repeatedly to help trapped debris work loose.
- Keep working the filter gently until it turns freely enough to drain and remove.
8
Remove debris from the filter
- Pull the filter straight out once the water has stopped draining.
- Remove trapped debris from the filter and put it in the bin.
9
Clean the filter and housing
- Scrub the filter with hot, soapy water and an brush.
- Check inside the filter opening for remaining debris.
- Use the brush to clean inside the filter opening if debris or grime is present.
- Check that the impeller at the back spins relatively easily.
10
Reinstall the filter
- Line up the cleaned filter with the filter opening.
- Turn the filter clockwise by hand to lock it in place.
- Dry the filter area with an old towel.
11
Check for leaks and prevent blockages
- Close the filter flap, or leave it open during the next wash program so you can check for leaks.
- Run a wash program and confirm that no water leaks from the filter.
- Run a drum clean cycle with drum cleaner if the filter area smells bad or contains dirty water.
The pump filter is clean when it drains normally, locks securely by hand, and doesn’t leak during a wash program. Check pockets before each load, and clean the filter whenever the washer stops draining, smells bad, makes unusual pump noises, or shows an F03 error. Repair didn't go as planned?
