Use this guide to replace the detergent dispenser in your LG front load washing machine. The detergent dispenser houses the detergent drawer. It has no moving parts and is unlikely to break. This guide will work for most LG front-load washing machines. This guide is written with a model WM3050CW washer. If you have a different model, you may encounter some minor disassembly differences, but the overall repair process will be the same.

Step 1

Before you begin your repair, perform the following:
Turn off the main water supply
Unplug your washer
Disconnect all water connections at the rear of your washer

Unfasten the top panel

Remove the screw(s) securing the top panel brackets to the back panel.
You don't need to remove the screws securing the brackets to the top panel.

Remove the top panel

Slide the top panel towards the rear of the device to disconnect its clips.

Step 4

Tilt the top panel upward to completely disconnect it from the chassis.
Remove the top panel.

Remove the detergent drawer

Pull the detergent drawer away from the chassis as far as it will go.

Step 6

Press down on the "Push" button to disengage the clips securing the detergent drawer.
Pull the drawer out of its slot on the chassis and remove it.

Disconnect the control panel

Disconnect the connectors attached to the control panel.
Always grip cables by their connectors and not the wires themselves.

Unclip the control panel cable

Unclip any connections the control panel cable has to the chassis or other components.

Detergent dispenser hose information

To prevent confusion, label each detergent hose and its corresponding dispenser connection.
You can use masking tape or mark the components themselves.

Step 10

Use slip joint pliers to pinch the detergent dispenser hose clamp and pull it away from the assembly.

Step 11

Use slip joint pliers to gently rotate the detergent dispenser hose back and forth around its connection and loosen it.

Step 12

Pull the detergent dispenser hose straight off its connection on the assembly.
Repeat the loosening and removal procedure for each hose.

Disconnect the dispenser

Loosen any fasteners securing the bellows to the detergent dispenser.
Pull the bellows straight off its connection on the dispenser to disconnect it.

Unfasten the detergent dispenser

Remove the screw(s) securing the detergent dispenser.

Unclip the detergent dispenser

Slide the detergent dispenser out of its slot in the chassis to unclip it.
Completely separate the dispenser from the chassis.

Remove the detergent dispenser

Remove the detergent dispenser.
